Tammis Day Foundation Helps BGC Ocoee Kids CREATE

Thanks to a generous grant from the Tammis Day Foundation, students involved in our art program at the Tucker Unit in Cleveland had a chance to create unique works of art and have them featured in an art show. This grant has provided our Tucker Unit with art materials to enhance our art program since June of 2022.

The Tammis Day Foundation was established following Tammis’ untimely death in 2016. The trustees of the Foundation are committed to honoring Tammis’ interests at organizations that were important to her during her lifetime.

The arts were a constant theme throughout Tammis’ life, particularly theatre, painting, and poetry. In addition to being a long-time benefactor and “art matron” for painter Lorraine Inzalaco, Tammis was also a playwright and actor, and wrote poetry, even earning her master’s degree in poetry. She understood the critical link between success in the arts and core curriculum subjects. A gift combining the arts and endowment was a natural result.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Ocoee Region is thankful to the Tammis Day Foundation and to BGCA Creates for such a wonderful gift and opportunity for our kids!
