Unlock the Adventure!

When you look into the face of a child without hope, it’s heartbreaking.

Children without hope are far less likely to graduate from high school and far more likely to suffer illnesses, behavioral and emotional problems, and get caught in the criminal justice system because of risky behaviors. They have to be taught to believe in themselves and in their own potential. It often comes down to mindset.

Since our humble beginnings in 1964, literally tens of thousands of kids have walked through our Club doors. Sadly, many of those kids arrive without hope. But if they stick around, all that changes. Not only do they get a safe and encouraging place to go during out-of-school time, but every day they are engaged by caring, friendly, welcoming staff. And that’s when the adventure begins!

Take Malachi, for example, a young boy in one of our Clubs right now. Malachi had the worst attitude last year. He could not get along with other kids, and was very disrespectful to the staff. Every day was a battle with him and he hated being told no about anything. He would “pitch a fit” for hours on end. But you would never know that if you walked into his Club today. It has been a long hard road, but today Club staff say Malachi is a pleasure to be around. Now his attitude and love for the Club is nothing short of a complete transformation, thanks to the patience, perseverance, and commitment from our staff. The kid who wreaked havoc a year ago is now turning into a leader who helps our youngest members learn to read.
It may sound cliché, but here is the cold hard truth about Malachi and kids like him: Generous friends like you made that happen. It’s absolutely true. Without your support, we couldn’t pay to have staff who are highly trained to help kids like Malachi. Without your support, we couldn’t even pay to keep the lights on and the doors open for Malachi.

Your gifts are always treasured, but 2020 has put an exclamation on that point. Despite the challenges, you’ve been there for our kids, and we want to say thank you … a million times thank you! And we need you now more than ever to help reach more kids in more places throughout Bradley, Meigs, Monroe, and Polk counties. The need is certainly there. The calls for help keep coming from more and more communities. But we can’t do that without your help. Any gift amount will help give a little one like Malachi a hope for a better future … for a Great Future! For example, for as little as $20 per month you can help pay for a Club bus to pick up a child (like Malachi) from school and get them through our doors. That’s one life changed, entirely because of you.
